A New Approach...

Here is a good idea on what you should do if you find yourself in a hockey fight.

That's right, pull your jersey of and put it on the other guy's head, that will definitely work.

Paquet Full of Sunshine

(I apologize for my sense of humor)

The Blades announced another signing yesterday. Defenseman Philippe Paquet played for Clarkson University for the last four years, and this will be his first professional season. His HockeyDB stats are here. He is now the fourth rookie to be signed this year. Things are certainly going to be interesting once season starts...

Also, if you are heading to the BBQ Saturday the box office will be open and selling tickets for the season. You can also meet a few current and former players. And, there is a ton of stuff being raffled off, it's just too much to list here. I can't go, but if anyone sends me pictures I will put them up (make sure to include your name please).

Lazy Sunday

The Blades haven't announced anything since my last post (for once), and I don't plan on waking up before noon tomorrow I'll give you some stuff to hold you over.

- Random Wikipedia hockey article "First indoor ice hockey game"

- This is one ugly jersey, tie-dye is never a good idea...

- Frank Zamboni, creator of the Zamboni, is being inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. THN has a great story about this.

- If you don't read the Blades blog over at The Naples Daily News too often, there is some news. Angela Bush, the longtime author, is leaving the blog. Apparently some of the NDN staff will fill in until they find a regular author. I haven't been reading her blog for that long, But it's sad to see her go.

There will be a YouTube video this Thursday, so make sure you check back! Don't plan on anything else, unless the Blades announce something new, I have my finals at school and I'd like to keep my straight A's going so I'm looking at some major studying.

Thelen Returns and Other Blades Stuff

Sorry for not posting at all this week, HughesNet seems to think providing good service is overrated. The good news is my Internet is working again, and my sister nagged enough to get us a free month.

Anyhoo, the Blades announced yesterday that AJ Thelen will be returning next year. I'm happy to see him back, he's a solid guy when he's healthy. Let's hope he stays off the injured list this year.

Some other Blades stuff for you...
- The Hockey News is running a contest to find the best jersey in North American hockey. They released the early results for the ECHL, guess who's number one? Check the link out for rankings, and also vote wihle you're there.

-Blades games will no longer be on ESPN 770AM. You'll have to tune into Fox Sports Radio 1200/1460AM. If this means we can hear more games I'm fine with that. It is a little sad though, the Blades have been with ESPN radio for a long time. But, come on who listens to NASCAR on the radio? And why should that come before hockey?

News and Other Stuff

Here's some random crud to get you through the weekend guys...

- If your gig at Hooters isn't paying that well you could always become a Gator Girl! They're holding tryouts August 30th, and your not allowed to wear your favorite dance thong! I guess the team wants to be sure the girls who will jiggle for the old men between periods are classy. (Family Entertainment huh?)

- Gwinnett will be coming down to play two preseason games October 9th and 10th. Do they still have Fallon?

- Wikipedia hockey page of the week "Rover"

- A whole Ebay store of various hockey jerseys, most are ugly in my opinion.

- My dream job would be designing goalie masks, so I love SI for putting up the 08-09 goalie masks. Obviously Marc-Andre Fleury has the best one...

Till Monday friends! Hopefully I survive work this weekend.

No Empty Net Here!

Becuase I seem to have that kind of luck, the Blades announced our new goaltender shortly after my last post. Mike Morrison, a verteran goaltender will be between the pipes this year. He has played everywhere, he even started a few games in the NHL for the Oilers. His HockeyDB stats are here.

A video of him when he played for HDD Tilia Olimpija Ljubljana (say that five times fast) in Slovenia...

It's good to finally know who we have as a goaltender. We lost Leggio to Finland, and Khudobin will most likely sign in the AHL. The fact that he is a veteran with so much experience is quite a relief. But, of course we'll see when the season begins if he'll work out.

Figures...

I should probably apologize for not posting this sooner, but I'm pretty sure there are only 3 regular readers. My Grandma was visiting and I barely had enough time to do my homework, let alone post here. But, we sent her back to Vegas yesterday(yes my Grandma lives in Las Vegas).

The Blades announced a signing and a trade (at least I think that's what you call what happened). They chose to do this after I had to post filler, and after I complained nothing was happening.

First, the Blades signed Forward Dylan Stanley, he played in Germany last year and although he played with the now defunct Grrrowl it was only for three games. His stats at HockeyDB.

Second, defense man Michael Grenzy was sent to the Wheeling Nailers. It's sad to see any player go. But, as the Nailers are the Pittsburgh Penguins ECHL affiliate, and I'm a HUGE Pens fan, I'm very happy for him.

Need a Giggle?

Usually I don't laugh at the immature stuff most guys think is funny, but this made me giggle.

I'll try to put a funny video up every week, at least until season starts. If you find a good one please send it to us, make sure you include your name so you can get some credit.

Hockey Fix of the Week

Nothing new has been announced by the Blades recently. So, to help you guys last a little longer here is some random hockey stuff to help you get your fix until season starts, only 72 days to go!

- Random Wikipedia hockey page "Flying Fathers"

- I want this cake for my birthday this year.

- A great person to follow on Twitter ITBHockey, always has great minor league hockey news.

- If you have ever wanted to have a burger with Ernie here is your chance, the Blades are having a BBQ on Saturday August 29.

Please check back on Thursday I'm planning something, not sure what yet.
