This Calls For An Update!

The Blades begin their home series against the Nailers tonight. Some things that have been going on since my last post...

- Let's Go Amerks! is reporting that Cris Beckford-Tseu will be returning for tonights game, then heading back up to Rochester tomorrow. At least I can post this CBT video...

- The 3rd Intermission is reporting that Goalie Anton Khudobin was sent back down to the Aeros from the Wild. The question is, does this mean Brusty be returning to the Blades?

- The Blades Blog has a preview of the series against Wheeling. Sounds like it's not going to be too easy for the Blades.

I'm still coming down off the high from the 6-1 stomping the Pens gave the Flyers last night. I'm also excited to see the Nailers play, not just because their the Pens affiliate, but because I've never seen them play. I love the ECHL doing their best to get more teams into town, and I'm sure the guys on the Nailers are appreciating the warm weather we've been having (77 degrees here compared to 19 degrees in Wheeling). As always I'll be tweeting live from the game and adding my own twisted view to whats going on.

Bye Bye Brusty

Did you hear the collective sobbing of the Brusty Fan Club yesterday? Because Aeros goalie Anton Khudobin (I still miss him) was called up to the Wild, Brusty has been called up to fill the empty spot. To fill our empty spot Nate Zervos will more than likely be getting a call, unless Beckford-Tseu is coming back from the Amerks of course.

The Blades also made a trade with the Grizzlies for forward Shea Guthrie (stats here), in exchange for rights to Simon Ferguson. This is a good deal in my opinion as Ferguson has yet to play a game with the Blades since signing.

Now on to some fun stuff...

- Someone out there thinks this blog is full of drivel (check the comments section), I believe people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

- You may have seen this, but here is the video I took of the penalty shot from last Saturday's game. You can see all the other videos on our YouTube channel.

(come back soon Brusty, or send Khudobin)

- Wikipedia hockey page "Torpedo System" I am so ready for the Olympics!

- Here is an amazing story about a Ref in Sweden saving a player's life by preforming CPR on him.

I will be tweeting live from tomorrows game, as usual. I'm crossing my fingers for this series against Wheeling (I'm also trying very hard to ignor the fact that they are the Pens affiliate).

Pens Win!

Monday was so awesome! This is the second time I've been able to see the Pens play live (they've won both times), what made this trip better was the awesome seats we were able to get. I really am grateful to the Panthers organization for dropping ticket prices, and for having such a nice facility.

The Panthers played a great game; they were able to hold off the Pens for most of it. But, the Pens love coming back in the third and they proved it. I was super excited to see two of my favorite goalies, Fleury and Vokoun, in net. I could have lived without the Panthers ugly third jerseys that they chose to debut (I can't believe how many fans ran off during the first intermission to buy one).

I've decided that I'm going to make more of an effort to watch Panthers games; I really did like what I saw (for most of the game). I was also able to catch part of the Rupp vs. Allen fight on video! I went ahead and uploaded that one and some others from last night, as well as last Friday's Blades/Royals game. The Blades are playing tonight, and if my turkey day isn't too crazy I'll try to get a post in.

Is it Friday?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go crazy if Friday doesn't get here. At least it's almost here, how exciting is it that seasons almost here?!

Yesterday, the Blades announced the signing of forward Jordan Morrison. You can find his stats here. Of course, I'm excited by the fact that the Penguins drafted him and he played a bit in Wilkes-Barre. He was named to last season's ECHL all rookie team, and had an average of a point per game during the Nailers playoff run.

I had a hard time choosing a video of our new guy, mostly because there are about 20 on YouTube. This was my favorite, but definetly follow the link to the video and check out all the other videos. This is from the 2005-2006 season he played in the OHL.

I'm also going to take this chance to mention that we set a new record for this blog by having six pageloads on Monday (sadly, we average about two a day). It's nice to see that I'm not just amusing myself here, and I would never be upset if all my lovely readers got the word out about this blog. Also, the special post I promised last week is going up tomorrow, make sure you check back.

News and Other Stuff

Here's some random crud to get you through the weekend guys...

- If your gig at Hooters isn't paying that well you could always become a Gator Girl! They're holding tryouts August 30th, and your not allowed to wear your favorite dance thong! I guess the team wants to be sure the girls who will jiggle for the old men between periods are classy. (Family Entertainment huh?)

- Gwinnett will be coming down to play two preseason games October 9th and 10th. Do they still have Fallon?

- Wikipedia hockey page of the week "Rover"

- A whole Ebay store of various hockey jerseys, most are ugly in my opinion.

- My dream job would be designing goalie masks, so I love SI for putting up the 08-09 goalie masks. Obviously Marc-Andre Fleury has the best one...

Till Monday friends! Hopefully I survive work this weekend.

Figures...

I should probably apologize for not posting this sooner, but I'm pretty sure there are only 3 regular readers. My Grandma was visiting and I barely had enough time to do my homework, let alone post here. But, we sent her back to Vegas yesterday(yes my Grandma lives in Las Vegas).

The Blades announced a signing and a trade (at least I think that's what you call what happened). They chose to do this after I had to post filler, and after I complained nothing was happening.

First, the Blades signed Forward Dylan Stanley, he played in Germany last year and although he played with the now defunct Grrrowl it was only for three games. His stats at HockeyDB.

Second, defense man Michael Grenzy was sent to the Wheeling Nailers. It's sad to see any player go. But, as the Nailers are the Pittsburgh Penguins ECHL affiliate, and I'm a HUGE Pens fan, I'm very happy for him.
