Blades Sign Nikiforov

The Blades are at it again. They announced the signing of right wing Vladimir Nikiforov. He's spent the last two seasons with the Utah Grizzlies. First, his stats:

Obviously, he's not the biggest guy, but he does have decent numbers. His father is a pretty well-known coach on Long Island. If his Wikipedia page is to be believed, he's coached some pretty awesome players.

For some more insight into this guy you can check out this story from the New York Islanders. It mentions, amongst other things, that he played on the same power play unit as Steve Stamkos in his OHL days. I also, found this little gem from his time in the OHL. Have I mentioned I love small, feisty players? This seems to be another signing that's focused on improving the teams speed and skill. I'm really looking forward to the season more and more. The Blades are going to be a lot of fun to watch.
